Under the direction of the Vice-Principal Student Affairs and Equity, Diversity, Inclusion, the Equity, Diversity, Inclusion and Anti-Racism Specialist plays an integral role in the, implementation and administration of the Bishop’s University’s EDI-AR initiatives.
Support programming and initiatives (e.g., training, events, workshops) that support Bishop’s commitment to EDI-AR and that develop competency among students, faculty and staff;
Support the development and integration of diversity and inclusion programs with the University community.
Provide subject matter expertise on EDI-AR strategies to committees such as the Anti-Oppression Advisory Committee and other University committees
Supports the VPSA-EDI in implementing and updating policies and guidelines related to equity, diversity and inclusion;
Facilitate consultations with members of equity-deserving groups, campus units, and other stakeholders to inform EDI-AR and related plans and programs around curricular issues including but not limited to decolonization, anti-racism, indigenization and anti-oppression.
Supports the Vice-Principal Student Affairs and Equity, Diversity, Inclusion, the Equity with EDI reporting
Support the Equity, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) Action Plan for the Canada Research Chairs (CRC) Program at Bishop’s;
Serve as a resource for the University community on current EDI, social justice and equal rights questions/issues;
Act as a resource for the Ombudsperson and other conflict resolution departments by providing an intercultural and anti-oppressive lens.
Mitigate tension and be a confidential safe space for faculty, students, and staff in need of advice and support;
Provide input on communications and presentations to ensure that principles of equity, diversity and inclusion are reflected in their content;
Promote and support critical thinking around curricular issues of diversity, equity and inclusion, including but not limited to decolonization, indigenization and anti-oppression.

Exigences et conditions
Bachelor degree/education/ training in a field or discipline related to equal rights, social justice, equity, diversity and inclusion;
Five to eight years’ experience developing and delivering programs and initiatives related to equity, diversity and inclusion;
Demonstrated experience in delivering programming and working in the area(s) of EDI, anti-oppression, anti-racism, and/or accessibility, preferably within a university or other post-secondary educational environment;
In-depth understanding of complex and intersectional issues related to equity, diversity and inclusion in a post-secondary setting or similar complex organization
Fluency in both English and French
Strong intercultural awareness and lived experience as an equity-deserving individual;
Experience in developing anti-racism and cultural diversity programming initiatives and case management;
Strong interpersonal communication and presentation skills, as well as proficiency using various forms of communications media
Well-developed skills in diplomacy, especially when handling sensitive issues while maintaining the respect, dignity and confidentiality of everyone involved;
Strong listening skills and ability to build trust with other members of the University community and external contacts, particularly members of equity-deserving groups.
