Job Opportunity Bookkeeper & Administrative Assistant

Mental Health Estrie is a grassroots not-for-profit organization committed to providing information, support, education and advocacy to English-speaking caregivers and individuals affected by mental illness in Estrie.

Term: 4 days a week (7 hours days for a total of 28 hours)

Place of work: Sherbrooke (Borough of Lennoxville) In-person with the possibility of some hybrid.

Bookkeeper responsibilities: manage and maintain records related to revenues (donations, grants and membership fees) and expenses, including payroll. Administrative Assistant responsibilities: basic office administrative functions, manage membership and assist with special projects. This employee is responsible to the Executive Director.

Tasks include:

Maintaining the financial records to the standard of good accounting practices using Sage Accounting, such as: prepare bank deposits, pay expenses, manage payroll, process donations and issue receipts and maintain tax receipt journal. Prepare monthly budget reports and materials for the annual audit.

Developing and managing a database for membership and fundraising. Assist with special projects.

Exigences et conditions

Requirements:

Bilingual: English 5/5 written & spoken; French 3/5 minimum;
Diploma of vocational studies in Accounting, Administrative Assistant or a related field or equivalent experience;
Familiarity with the basic principles of accounting;
Proficiency with Sage Accounting Software;
Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint);
Knowledge of Publisher and Access (or other database) are an asset;
Experience writing letters and reports etc. is an asset

Is able to work collaboratively and autonomously
Has strong organizational and time management skills
Is motivated, innovative, dynamic
Is attentive to accuracy and detail (accounting and data entry)
Has excellent writing skills in English (grammar and spelling)
Has a deep appreciation for confidentiality and anonymity
