Job Title: Youth Cultural Ambassadors

Office Location: Remotely
Duration: 6 months
Type of Employment: Part-time, 6-months contract
Salary: $1,200 stipend

About Y4Y Québec:
Y4Y Québec is a provincial non-profit committed to addressing the issues facing English-speaking youth (ages 16-30). Founded in 2018, we are a youth network working together to speak on behalf of English-speaking youth across the province. Y4Y is a strong, diverse and inclusive network that is part of a larger community ecosystem focused on the linguistic minority of Québec.
About the Project :
Youth from the linguistic minority of Québec have a lower sense of attachment to the province. You Are Here is a Y4Y project focused on changing that. Through regional activities and intergenerational conversations, we’re fostering a sense of belonging, connecting youth to the unique features of their communities and providing an opportunity for participants to discover the richness of the place we all call home.
Job Description:
Working remotely, the YCA will be expected to:
Develop, with support from Y4Y’s Project Coordinator, a communications strategy to reach out to local youth, community partners, and seniors about the events created by the project to encourage participation (October 2021 - March 2022)
Develop, with support from Y4Y's Project Coordinator, a Cultural Learning Plan to engage with local Museum staff, Boards of Directors of Cultural and Heritage sites, and local historians (October 2021 to January 2022)
Visit local heritage sites to collaborate on events for projects. (October 2021 to February 2022)
Organize meetings with local community groups to engage with the community and collaborate on Culture, Heritage, and the Arts events for the project (October 2021 to March 2022)
Organize meetings with a local Seniors Action Groups and youth groups to foster intergenerational discussions about Heritage, Culture, the Arts, and local history (November 2021 to February 2022)
Organize three community events with Youth Cultural Ambassadors to showcase what each has learned about their communities’ heritage (October 2021 to February 2022) Please Note: For in-person events, we will be following the COVID-19 regulations set according to the regions who are participating.
Coordinate with other YCAs and the Project Coordinator to create a final online event to highlight ‘You are Here’, new partnerships, youth achievements & workshop heritage issues (February to March 2022)
Constantly be on the lookout to recruit additional youth to attend meetings, join intergenerational conversations, help plan events

Qualifications:
The applicant must be a current resident of the region for which they apply
The applicant must fall within Y4Y’s definition of youth (ages 16-30, inclusive)
Some experience liaising and consulting with community partners and stakeholders
Good communication and public relations skills
Ability to work independently and in a team-oriented environment
Interest in learning about the history of the English-speaking communities of Québec
